Confessions of a dope fiend...

Ok, I wasn't really planning on using this blog for this, but after memorial day, I begin treatment for hepatitis C. I've been suspicious that I had it for about a year, but never got tested from fear. Finally, the second week of April I was diagnosed. I had no clue what I was in for, and still don't to be honest, but I'm learning daily. Thank god for Usenet, and alt.support.hepatitis-C. After reading what others have/are going through, I feel extremely lucky. The most common for appears to be Genotype 1a, which takes 12 months of interferon/Ribavirin treatment. The interferon helps your immune system, while Ribavirin is an anti-viral. I have Genotype 3a, which has a much greater success rate. 80% to 90% after only 6 months of treatment. That's all I have to say on the subject at the moment, but I'm sure I will be spilling my riba-rage all over this blog down the road...

Flash vs. HTML...

I've played around with flash on and off for years, but I've always been intrigued. So, I've decided to move over to Flash as my primary development platform. I have a buttload to learn, but it appears that I can do anything I can do with html relative to MySQL and PHP with flash, and make cool little animations even...

from the "It Can Only Happen in New Orleans" dept...

I allowed myself to be talked into joining a dart league and last night was the first match. We were to meet at Wit's Inn at 6PM, and I was there with bells on. Much to my surprise, no one else on the team was there. I figured I was early, and didn't become alarmed until I realized that there was a group of people there for a meeting.
The speaker stood up and introduced himself, and proceeded to describe his creditials to the captive audience. Had his master...worked with adolescents and other people with suicidal tendencies. His talk was on the subject of suicide and bi-polar issues.
Now, I'm thinking, why the fuck would my friend send me to a bar to play darts if these loonies were going to be there...
I summoned the bartender and confirmed that there was in fact darts, and she confirmed. She then went on to explain to me *EXACTLY* what was going on...and here's where it falls in the "only in new orleans" zone.
The group, she explains, is a church group that meets at the bar once a month. "A CHURCH GROUP!!!" WTF!!!
Let's summarize; A Church Group, hanging out in a bar, talking about suicide and bi-polar issues, over A FEW BEERS!!!!!
All I have to say is; "WHERE THE FUCK WHERE THEY WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND EASILY INFLUENCED?"
Have a BEER with Jesus!

blah...

So kick me, I'm not that diligent of a blogger. I don't post everyday, which shouldn't matter since I doubt anyone even reads this. Needless to say, I've been dealing with health issues and work issues far too much.
My health is improving for now. This is most likely due to the fact that alcohol has become a thing of the past. Believe me, it's not by choice as much as necessity. I won't go into details here.
Work on the other hand IS NOT improving. I feel as though I'm dragging a dead horse under a locked barbed wire gate. No matter, I just need to keep the company open as long as I can so my insurance stays active...
